September marked a new peak in consulting movements in 2021; it’s prime time for deal execution, career changes, and global expansion.

For instance, the Restructuring market sees increased activity: Ankura has set up a new Restructuring practice to operate across Europe as the wider business continues to grow, and Eight Advisory has added significant figures to its practice in France, also adding to its Tax expertise in the process.

United Kingdom

Richard Haddock joins PwC’s strategy arm in the UK as a Partner, specialising in Technology Value Creation, particularly within the Private Equity space. He comes from a senior leadership background from his time at EY and Alvarez & Marsal.

Stephen Whitehouse leaves Kearney to join Oliver Wyman as a Partner in their London office. He specializes in growth, customer, digital, and business transformation.

EY have hired Richard Kho as a Partner, based in London. He specialises in helping clients transform due to industry disruptions. He ends his 20-year tenure at Accenture to join EY.

Interpath Advisory have appointed Steve Taylor as a Managing Director and Head of Valuation Services. Steve spent the past two years leading his own venture, St James Valuations. He previously led EY’s Valuations practice first across the UK, then EMEIA.

Mark Hawken joins Ankura’s Turnaround & Restructuring practice in London as a Senior Managing Director. Mark leaves behind his Partner role within BCG TURN, a specialist unit of BCG which focuses on corporate transformation and turnaround. Donald Featherstone, a former BCG Senior Advisor, and Scott Millar, formerly at AlixPartners, also join the practice, strengthening their capabilities in this space.

Schellion Horn leaves her role as a Managing Director within the Disputes and Investigations team at Alvarez & Marsal to join Grant Thornton UK as an Economics Partner.

Germany

Gökhan Öztürk has been appointed a Managing Director in the Digital Financial Services practice of AlixPartners, based in Munich. He brings decades of strategy and digital consulting experience to the firm, having worked at Oliver Wyman, Roland Berger, and Accenture.

Eight Advisory have appointed Johannes Steinel as a Restructuring Partner in both their Zurich and Frankfurt offices. He comes from a senior leadership background, having been a Partner at both EY and PwC.

Holger Lipowsky joins Bain & Company as a Partner from Roland Berger, where he worked for twelve years. At Bain, Lipowsky is a Partner in the Advanced Manufacturing and Services, Aerospace and Defense, and Public Sector practices. He is based in Berlin. He specialises in strategy, transformation, and performance improvement.

Bain have also hired Thomas Frost, who has been appointed an Expert Partner. He previously spent twelve years with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), where he was part of the Industrial Goods and Operations practice groups. He specialises in the design and implementation of production systems, as well as lean management, supply chain and factory optimisation, manufacturing networks, and maintenance systems.

France

Jean-Laurent Poitou has joined Alvarez & Marsal as a Managing Director and Head of Digital, EMEA, based in Paris. Jean-Laurent has 32 years of senior leadership experience helping Fortune 500 companies and public sector clients transform their businesses, from his time at Accenture.

Bain have hired Pierre-Antoine Bodin, who joins their Paris office as an Associate Partner. He leaves his Partner role at Roland Berger to join Bain, specialising in pharmaceutical and healthcare strategy consulting.

Fabrice Wagner leaves McKinsey & Co. to join Kearney as a Partner in Paris, with a focus on Strategic Operations and Procurement.

Pierre Boy de la Tour leaves his Associate Partner position at Oliver Wyman to join boutique strategy consulting firm Mawenzi Partners, as a Partner, in Paris.

Netherlands

Alvarez & Marsal Benelux have expanded their cross-borders tax capabilities with the appointment of Frank Buitenwerf as a Managing Director in Amsterdam. He brings extensive experience in the tax due diligence and corporate tax space from his time as an Associate Partner at EY.

Erik Berden joins management consulting firm Eden McCallum as a Partner, after over 10 years of experience in top strategy consulting firms, particularly BCG and AT Kearney.

Belgium

Quorum Tax has been integrated into LDS Advisory in Belgium as LDS expands their practice with a new, experienced, tax team. The team will be led by Olivier Gios, Dieter Dilliën (who leaves PwC Belgium to join the team) and Bart Buelens, and also includes Philippe De Cock, Charlotte Flückiger, and Jeroen Van Loock. Together, they have combined experience of 60 years in their field of expertise, including numerous years at Big 4 and major law firms.

Thibaut Zeimes has left his Director role at Deloitte to join Worldline Global as a Senior Program Manager.

Eight Advisory have appointed Christian Van Craeyvelt as a Transaction Tax partner in their Brussels office. He makes this career move from PwC, where he was a Tax Director with a strong focus on M&A and international tax structuring.

Switzerland

Alvarez & Marsal have expanded their Global Transaction Advisory Group (TAG) into Geneva, appointing Amaury Bonnaire (a former Big 4 senior) as Managing Director. Amaury advises corporate and private equity clients on integrated approaches for maximizing value and generating growth.
