Though the year wound down to a close in December, there were some significant movements within consulting, especially across the European market. As we go into 2022, the Big 4 aim to strengthen their existing Private Equity capabilities, strategy houses grow their partnerships, and leading players lay the groundwork for important movements in the new year.

Key People Moves

Lindsey Naylor moves to Bain’s Financial Services team in London as Partner after more than 15 years with Oliver Wyman. Her areas of expertise include target operating models, end-to-end cost transformations, zero basing, and service delivery optimisation.

Miel Gelejins, a former Managing Director at Accenture, has joined EY in the Netherlands as Partner. Miel brings over two decades of experience in strategy consulting, end-to-end transformation management and hands-on data, analytics, and technology management.

Bahige El-Rayes joins Bain in London as a Partner from Kearney. He has deep experience within Consumer Goods across many functionalities, with a focus on integrating supply chain topics, driving value chain reconfiguration, and E2E transformations that focus on the trade-offs between cost, sustainability, and innovation.

Devang Shah, a recognized digital transformation expert, joins as Senior Director in the A&M’s Digital and Technology Services practice. With over 23 years of leadership experience, Mr. Shah focuses on driving significant, profitable growth for clients, while helping them maintain cost reductions and productivity and performance improvements.

Akif Jawaid has joined to head a newly formed EY-Parthenon Private Equity UK team which will combine commercial, operational and digital expertise to maximise value for clients across the deal cycle. Akif joins from KPMG, where he was the Global Head of their PE practice.

Bain also adds Joseph Edwin as an expert Partner in the firm’s Financial Services and Enterprise Technology teams. He has particularly deep expertise in large-scale, technology-enabled transformations and is a thought leader on core banking modernisation; he joins the firm from a Nordic banking group.

Oliver Wyman has appointed two new partners in its Amsterdam office: Cornelia Neumann and Dilek Izek. Cornelia, a Financial Services Partner, has been with the global strategic consulting firm since 2011, having previously worked at the Bank of England. Dilek is a relatively young Partner, having been with Oliver Wyman for just over eight years.

Alvarez & Marsal brings on Dallas-based Bala Ekambaram as a Managing Director within the Private Equity Performance Improvement practice Commercial Excellence group. He will help clients identify and execute sustainable sources of revenue growth and margin improvement. Bala joins from AlixPartners.

Tom Swinnen, former Associate Partner at EY and Country Lead in Belgium for the firm’s M&A practice, has moved over to boutique business law firm Simont Braun as Partner. His experience spans across distressed M&A, public and private M&A, in- and out-of-court restructuring, joint ventures, and more general commercial law topics.

Altman Solon adds Business Transformation specialist Guy Kinley to its New York office. Guy joins from EY Parthenon and brings 10+ years of TMT industry experience and deep expertise in structuring, leading, and implementing transformations to help clients realize business strategy.

BCG’s Benjamin Entraygues was appointed the firm’s Global Leader of BCG’s Principal Investors & Private Equity Practice. He joined the firm some five years ago from Roland Berger and is a long-standing Private Equity strategy leader.

Simon-Kucher & Partners has appointed Anne Rupp as the firm’s inaugural Global Corporate Responsibility & Sustainability Director. Anne, who joins from Industry and is based in Germany, has been tasked with shaping and implementing Simon-Kucher’s corporate social responsibility and sustainability strategy and agenda.

Alvarez & Marsal continues the expansion of the Global Transaction Advisory Group in Italy with the appointment of Managing Directors Davide Ganzer, as Head of Transaction Advisory in Italy, and Giorgio Perconti. The latter joins from EY and the former from Deloitte, both in the Milan area.

EY has promoted Laurence Buchanan and Patrick Ruijs to EMEIA leaders of its Customer & Growth practice. Laurence is based in London and Patrick in the Netherlands as they support EY’s EMEIA-wide efforts to support clients in designing customer growth strategies, re-imagining products and services through human-centered design, innovation and business and technology transformation.

Kearney has appointed Alberto Fumo in London as the European leader of its newly formed Transactions & Transformations practice. Previously, in March, Fumo was named the European leader of Kearney’s Private Equity and M&A practice.
